Heads of the Arab countries officially visited Moscow at the Russian president invitation in August.

The crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of UAE Armed Forces Mohammed ibn Zayed Al-Nahyan, the president of Egypt Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi and the king of Jordan Abdullah II attended the International Aviation and Space Salon in Zhukovsky which is located near to Moscow. On the 25th of August, Vladimir Putin declared that a number of significant agreements will be a bottom line of the large-scale aviation show.

It is not only power and military cooperation that the Arab leaders intend to work on in Russia. They also aim at discussing the issues of the present international politics. The King Abdullah, for example, noted that Russia plays one of the most important parts as far as establishing a dialogue between different parts of the Syrian conflict.  Sheikh Mohammed ibn Zayed has talked about the situation in Syria too.

According to Emirati news agency WAM, he was “very happy about being able to discuss regional problems and bilateral relations” with the Russian president.

The official press service of the Russian president claimed that Vladimir Putin and Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi discussed the construction plans of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt.

The head of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed met with the president of Egypt while being on the visit to Moscow. They discussed ways of improving relations between the two countries. “Due to its strategic location and part that it plays in the regional politics, Egypt has always been a base of stability and safety in the Middle East. This is why it is important to support official Cairo and build up a good rapport with it,” said the Emirati representative.

Before the so called “Arab spring”, UAE, Egypt and Jordan were considered to be one of the main US allies in the region. Yet, all the changes occurred after the mass uprisings in the region made it clear for the Arab politicians that Washington was not going to protect them. Instead, the US will topple the existing regimes once it is possible to do. As opposed to the United States, Russia has always followed its principles and has had the same allied. This way, it demonstrated to the leaders of the Arab countries that it can face difficulties. Hypocritical position of Washington puts their allies off. Russian government should not miss an opportunity to reinforce its position in the region. The Persian Gulf countries have been working on destabilizing the situation in Russia for a long time. They sponsored radical groups in the North Caucasus. Saudi Arabia and the US have more disagreements now than there used to be. Russia should take advantage of the so-called “Islamic factor”.  People of various religions have been living in Russia for many centuries. This can add to building a rapport with the Muslim world. Russian Muslims as well as the whole Russia are the part of this world. We can achieve tremendous results by cooperating with each other and looking for the ways of resolving the problem of radicalism together.
